Life is never made

unbearable by

circumstances, but only

by lack of meaning

and purpose.

Although the world is full of suffering,

it is also full of the overcoming of it.

The only intelligent

tactical response to life's

horror is to laugh

defiantly at it.

The gem cannot be polished

without friction, nor man

perfected without trials.

Given the choice between

the experience of pain and 

nothing, I would choose

pain.

We don't even ask for happiness,

just a little less pain.

Sometimes carrying on,

just carrying on, is the

superhuman achievement.

Pain makes me grow. Growing 

is what I want. Therefore, for

me pain is pleasure.

Hardships often prepare ordinary

people for an extraordinary destiny.

To remain stable is to

refrain from trying to

separate yourself from a

pain because you know that

you cannot.

Those who aim at great deeds

must also suffer greatly.

The aim is to

balance the terror

of being alive with

the wonder of being

alive.

Maybe this world is another

planet's hell.

One day, in retrospect, the years

of struggle will strike you as the

most beautiful.

The trials you face

will introduce you

to your strengths.

Let everything happen to you

Beauty and terror

Just keep going

No feeling is final.

I can bear any pain, as

long as it has meaning.

Rock bottom will teach you

lessons that mountain tops

never will.

Discontent is the first necessity

of progress.

When you face difficult times,

know that challenges are not 

sent to destroy you. They're sent 

to promote, increase, and 

strengthen you.

When it hurts observe.

Life is trying to teach

you something.

A man who fears suffering is

already suffering from what he 

fears.

Pain and suffering are always

inevitable for a large intelligence

and a deep heart. The really great

men must, I think, have great 

sadness on earth.

I prefer peace. But if trouble must

come, let it come in my time, so that

my children can live in peace.

People are strange, they neither

wish to live nor die.
